Backlog: Montserrat

I decided to take a couple of day trips from Barcelona, so after an invigorating day of discovering Gaudi, I took to the mountains and to see some of the Spanish country side. I had read about the Montserrat Monestary, located cliffside with lots of hiking in the area. Enough said.

It was indeed pretty, but unfortunately the weather was cold and wet in the higher elevations and I didn't bring my winter jacket along. I had quickly lost my enthusiasm for some hiking in the area.

I had read about the Montserrat boys choir, and had been ensured that they would sing each day at 1:00, so I planned my trip to be there in time for the performance. I instead found myself in mass at 1:00, which I am sure was a really nice service, but unfortunately I couldn't understand anything. I was, however, really impressed at the inclusion of the tourists in the service, who were invited to lead readings and light candles.

I'm sure had the weather been more inviting, and had I not walked 25 kilometers the day before, I may have been a bit more motivated to do some hiking around, but instead I headed back to Barcelona and made a visit to museum Picasso, entering just in time to avoid a major downpour.

Some pictures from the walk back to the hostel.

Motorrad is definately the way to go in Barcelona. I found this one perfectly set under the window down the street from my hostel. I found the head funny.
